Schoolmum_image2In a world full of packed lunches 5 days a week, traffic congested car rides to and from school each day and countless missing uniform pieces, changing hairstyles and dropped breakfasts, a mother’s beauty can be the last thing to worry about. LustHaveIt!, Australia’s leading online beauty subscription service has the top tips for quick and easy beauty, for those crazy weekday mornings, and will leave every mum looking amazing without the hassle of using hundreds of products that take hours to apply!

The trick to quick and easy beauty, is knowing the right products, and what they are beneficial for. With so many different products on the market, it’s often hard to know what is best to use, and what will save time between tying those shoelaces. The best overall tip is to stick with what you are comfortable with doing, and these next few tips will help you on your way.

1) Drink plenty of water

Not only is water important for inner hydration, especially during the summer months, but it too is an essential for outward appearance. To keep your skin looking youthful and free from any imperfections, drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. The best way to ensure you keep hydrating is to have a water bottle that you can carry everywhere with you, take sips throughout the day, and you will look and feel better.

2) Moisturise

A beauty tip for everyone to abide by is moisturising! Your skin can often lose moisture throughout the year from cold winds and hot, dry sun. Apply all over the body, from head to toe to have glowing and youthful skin. Definitely don’t skip the face, as this allows for any discolouration, dryness and imperfections to be blurred and minimised.

3) Say hello to dry shampoo

You may have heard of a little product called dry shampoo, and for a good reason. It is the remedy for any bad hair day, and the best substitute for shampoo and hairspray. If you don’t have time for a 6 weekly hair appointment, let alone bi-weekly hairwashes, this product is the easiest fix for your hair. Spraying onto the roots of the hair, in about 6 sectioned off pieces, the powdery spray soaks up any excess oil hanging around and volumises your hair from the roots up. Pull back into a ponytail or leave loose and voluminous for a chic weekday look.

4) Less is more with makeup

The best way to have a flawless, quick and easy makeup routine is to select a small range of great products that you love and trust. When in a rush, the most important products to apply (after moisturising!) are a blush, concealer, mascara and lip product. The great part about these few products is that they each accentuate a different area of the face, ensuring you look awake and refreshed for the school run. If you choose to skip moisturiser on the face, use a BB cream in place, it not only has SPF, but it moisturises and gives light coverage over the face. Place a liberal amount of a light pink blush colour on the tops of the cheeks to give a more natural look, with a slick of your favourite mascara over the top and bottom lashes to open the eyes. Dab a very small amount of concealer in a half moon under the eyes in a close-to-skin-tone colour to hide the dark circles, and finish off with a slick of your favourite lipstick or gloss to give that finished look.

Beauty is simple when you know the shortcuts, and we hope that you have learned something new to kickstart your glam approach to the school run. Taking just 10 minutes each day, these tips are the best way to look youthful and fresh, enabling a strong hold on the crazy schedule that comes along with being a mum.
