How to Clean Your Dishwasher for Cheap

0

If you are anything like me you think that the inside of a machine designed to clean things, should be pretty clean! Every now and then though they too need a little love 🙂

Dishwashers do a great job (mostly) but they can stop working as well if you don;t care for them … streaky glass, odours and just being generally less efficient are the most common symptoms. In my case, I just thought things that usually clean well were not coming out perfectly and there was definitely some frosting on the glasses after a wash.

So i began thinking that I should buy some special product to run through the machine and a friend of mine suggested that I try a simple and cheap home remedy first.

I firstly did a physical clean of the various filters and grills in the bottom of the machine. They came out easily and I have to tell you that they were a little sickening. Uurrrggghhh …

Then I places a dishwasher safe bowl with a cup of white vinegar in it on the top rack and slid it in.

Lastly I sprinkled a cup of bicarbonate soda (baking soda) all over the very bottom of the machine and then I put it on a long cycle (usually a pot cycle).

45 mins later I opened the door when it finished and let it cool. It smelt great and the inside looked cleaner. When I ran the next cycle I could definitely notice a better all round result and I not feel that the machine will be safer and c leaner for another few months.

I hope that you have luck as I did with this simple, cheap recipe for a cleaner dishwasher.
