How To Make Traditional Sangria

Sangria has been the undoing of many an unsuspecting Mexican restaurant patron …. but its a great favourite at a social gathering. 

This is very alcoholic so this one is adults only! 

Here is how to whip up your own pitcher of the crowd favourite.

Recipe

Step 1: Drop in fruit
Drop three lime wheels into the bottom of the pitcher. Add three orange wheels, and three lemon wheels.

Step 2: Add lemon juice & sugar
Add two ounces of lemon juice and add two tablespoons of sugar.

Step 3: Muddle ingredients
Muddle the ingredients using the wooden spoon.

Step 4: Add wine, brandy & triple sec
Pour in the bottle of red wine, add six ounces of brandy, and finally add three ounces of triple sec.

Tip
For a fruitier version, add peach nectar, pineapple juice, or white grape juice.

Step 5: Add ice
Add ice cubes if you are serving your batch right away.

Tip
For the tastiest results, refrigerate the pitcher overnight and add the ice just before serving.

Step 6: Pour & serve
Pour into a large red wine glasses to serve.

Tip
For a little fizz, add a splash of cold club soda to each glass before pouring in the sangria.
